E-MAIL US AT SEVANS@ODY.CA We love to talk about Bulldogs !
We love to collect donations and Canadian Tire money to help the less fortunate animals around the city. Last year, we collected just under $200.00 and purchased well needed supplies for Animal Aide and Pet Friends For Life, both in St. Thomas, Ontario. We also managed to gather blankets, bedding and dog food for A.R.F. We will continue to help homeless, abandoned and abused animals, as animal welfare is very important to us as a family, no matter where the help is needed. If you are a part of an animal rescue organization and you are desperate for help, please contact us. We would love to do what we can!
In Canada, the accepted registry is the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) which is a government run organization. In the United States, the accepted registry is the American Kennel Club (AKC) for all breeds, except for the few rare breeds which the AKC does not register.
FOREIGN COUNTRIES BUYER BEWARE ! Puppies coming from foreign countries no matter how good the package looks or seems often have questionable backgrounds. The puppy's "papers" often and at times can be fraudulent and anyone that tells you that their puppies are registered with the FCI, which stands for Federation Cynologique Internationale, might be misleading you! This organization at times does not register dogs and puppies that are imported from Slovakia, Poland, Russia, the Ukraine and other surrounding eastern European countries and are often poor quality. These poor puppies can come from puppy mills and even the breeder who has purchased them/the adults is none the wiser. There are NO strict standards placed on dogs registered with the FCI and some of the dogs produced aren't show circuit quality, they are marginal at best and shouldn't be bred. You can visit this link www.thewrongpuppy.org/pedigree for the information that future Bulldog buyers need to know. When choosing a puppy, make sure you are able to view both parents and also their whelping area. In addition to this, ask to see where the breeder's dogs are kept. If the breeder makes excuses or prefers to bring the puppies out to you, be wary. This often means the pups and mother are kept in sub-standard conditions. Clean whelping area and mother means clean, healthy puppies. The perfect start to their brand new lives ! Dog breeders should have some type of income, if you come across a person who doesn't have a job and only breeds dogs, specifically Bulldogs, this should tell you that this breeder is strictly breeding for monetary gain. If you ever have concern about animal welfare, the uncleanliness of a kennel or the health of an animal, please contact the OSPCA.
